Cricket was on my mind as I just finished the rather good Netherland by Joseph O'Neill. The hazards and longstanding occupation of playing cricket in New York city are matched by a brief in the independent on the difficulties encountered by the Berlin cricket club (in existence since 1850) whose ground on Kornerplatz is to be closed by the authorities for what looks like a very British cause: health and safety regulation!
Meanwhile, England are in all kind of problems at Trent Bridge. 89 for six.

July
July is always special in England, the grey sky and the sporadic downpours prepares one for the autumn to come. Good cricket though!
